The kings crown costs a whopping 12,000,000,000 NZD The crown is made of gold and set with 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls, and 4 rubies! The crown contains some of the most famous jewels in the collection. These include the Black Prince’s Ruby, the Stuart Sapphire, and the Cullinan II diamond.
The king’s crown has existed in various forms since the 15th century. The current version was made in 1937 and is worn by a new monarch for the first time in the royal procession following their coronation (having been crowned with St Edward’s Crown during the ceremony and subsequently used at State Openings of Parliament.
